-Republic reverts to Sultanate on 1st Rajab 1373 (6th March 1954)
   
- The Second Republic on 19 Shaubaan 1388 (11th November 1968)
   
- Second President of the Second Republic - HE Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was
elected President in 1978 and was sworn in on 10th Zul Hajja 1398 (11th November 1978).
